Civil law in Bangladesh covers private rights and obligations arising from property, contracts, money claims, possession, declarations, injunctions, and other non-criminal disputes. The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 provides the main procedural framework for civil courts and applies throughout Bangladesh, subject to special laws that may assign a dispute to another forum.
